22 lr JC Higgins/Sears info

i have an old 22 sears/jc higgins tube feeder (16 rounds) with the small narrow red sling -- great wood in the stock -- & the best shooting 22 we own -- probably as a result of 26" barrel
-- the spring that provides tension for the feeder rod has gotten weak enough that invariably one of the last two or three rounds ends up jammed sideways in the action -- it's an easy fix however i would like to get original spring if possible -- anyone know where i might find one (spring) we have had it for 25/30 years and bought it used -- i understand there was a scope offered by sears for this rifle & am hoping another old-timer might have info on the scope -- i believe winchester made the rifle but i am not sure -- any one know? Thanks

If it is a JC Higgins it was made by JC Higgins..........Sold at Sears.

If you can find a Sears Model/Part number on it, like 101.34 or 103.350, etc (Just a sample number, probably nowhere near the actual model number), then someone will know the manufacturer and their model number.

Sounds like a Model 31. This rifle like all J.C. Higgins branded firearms was made by others (Marlin, Savage, High Standard).

Your rifle appears to be one made by High Standard. This link will take you to parts list and other info for that rifle. You may be able to find parts at Numrich and other parts sellers.

J.C. Higgins was not a firearms manufacture, and never made any firearm for anyone.
It was only a trade name used on Sears & Roebuck firearms made by other gun manufactures.

Your rifle was made by High Standard for Sears with the J.C. Higgens trade name on it.
