I got new a 6 inch Heritage Rough Rider s/a in 22 magnum.
Tons of fun and surprisingly accurate. My question is, how lot has yours stood up to normal use?

just got one in myself, waiting on the paperwork.

I've shot a couple really old ones tho, and besides finish ware and a bent front sight on one, they still go hang, and bullets go where they are aimed. both guns get regular use (abuse) and have never had a mechanical issue according to the owners. they are quite popular with pig hunters.

I bought a dual-cylinder 6" .22/.22Mag Heritage Rough Rider in June but have not made the time to shoot it very much.

It is a lot of fun, though.

The occasion spurred me to get out the old .22 Herters S/A that Dad bought in ~1967 for under $30.

Also a hoot!

I had forgotten how much of a pleasure that it is to periodically step back from the "big stuff". :)

My BiL has had his for years and years and has shot MANY rounds through it (he has four sons). Eventually the plastic "handle' or whatever you call it that works the ejector rod broke off, but the revolver is still functional and still shoots just fine.

Not a Heritage, but the .22 Mag cylinder is all I use in my convertible Single Six 6.5”... the .22 Mag is just too much fun out of a revolver to put the .22LR cylinder back on :).

Here’s to your revolver holding up as long as mine has!

Stay safe.

I had one. It was terribly inaccurate so it went back to heritage/Taurus.

They returned it to me with targets shot from a rest that were pretty pathetic stating it was in spec and accurate enough.

I have the targets somewhere still and I want to say they shot bagged groups of about 3-4" at 7 or 10 yards with different ammo.

Poi was also off 2" with every ammo they used.

Most other people that have them seem to really like them.

Anybody shoot shorts out of the regular 22 cylnder?
They still make those!? :)

I haven't fired any .22Shorts in almost 60 years. Gonna hafta source some of those for both my revolvers and the original incredibly-short-LOP J.C.Higgins-branded single-shot .22 bolt rifle that Dad bought during Eisenhower's 2nd Term. The firearm on which he started me out. :D

I have the Rough Rider with both cylinders. It is a bit more accurate with the 22 magnums and it has stood up with no problem after about 500 magnum rounds. I would shoot them more often except for the cost versus 22lr. I clean it after each range session and check all the screws at the same time. None have loosened.

Jeff

My wife has a Colt Frontiersman that she got from here father quite some time ago. It was made in the early 60's and we have shot it alot in 22 mags and 22 long rifle. She loves it.

I have two of the HRR guns, but haven't fired many Magnum rounds through them, nor have I fired Shorts from either of them. I have fired Shorts from a Taurus M94 revolver I had years ago, in my backyard. It was nice to be able to go out there and do that back then. I also had CB and BB caps back then. I'm certain that I still have ammunition in all three loads buried deep in the safe somewhere, all of it dating from the late 1980s. Might have to dig it out and run a few. I bet the CB and BB caps would be neat from my little NAA. ;)

i recently put about 150 rounds of 22wmr through a 9 shot, 4.5” hrr. the experience was ok, though the barrel heated up high and fast, and i had to stop to let it cool and to tighten the screws afterwards. i’ve put 150 rounds of 22wmr through a 5.5” ruger single six, absolutely without problem and way more accurate. the hrr does better with 22lr, the ruger ss does way better, period. i trust a used ruger way more than a new heritage, but if your absolute limit is $150 then a new hrr with both cylinders is ok.

I bought a used one back in June. Adjustable sights version.

I shot several brands of .22mag. Pleased with accuracy. Velocities are unimpressive however.
I’ve shot several thousand rds of .22lr through it. Accuracy equivalent to .22mag. I doubt I’ll ever use magnum cylinder again.

Trigger is surprisingly good. Accuracy almost as good as my Ruger 6” RST, Which is almost as good as my S&W 617 6-shot 6”bbl.
The lightweight and no magazine needed makes it endearing.
It’s a keeper...

and; it shoots shorts, and cb’s just fine.

I have one going now for about 5 years. It is a fun plinker. I like shooting all kinds of ammo including Mags. I personally do not want adjustable sights, actually enjoy just busting tin cans using Kentucky Windage. Still want a Birdshead with a short barrel.
I especially enjoy shooting the LCR22. No adjustable sights as well.

I'm with you on the sights. I have 4 HRRs and one of them is the 3.5 in bbl birds head with the fake pearl grips. Love that little shooter.
It has one problem though, with such a short barrel the ejector rod is too short to fully push out the empties. A little flip with a finger nail finishes the job but I wish that rod was an eighth of an inch longer.
