Im looking into getting an AR in .223 for planking and varment shooting. I would live the gun to be less than say 38" over all and have a telscoping stock to easier transport. Also i wold live it to have a flat top so i coulf eventually mount a small scope. I was thinking about the Bushmaster 16in Modular Carbine, some form of an M4, Bushmaster Carbon 15 Model 4 , Bushmaster Carbon 15 Type 97S Rifle, Bushmaster M17S Bullpup Rifle, or anything else anything has sugestions on. Also would like it to have a flash supressor just for the look.

Do price checks.

Have your freindly local FFL check on prices for you first. If he knows he's getting your business (and is reputable) he'll be very accomodating. It may be better for you to buy a lower and mail-order the upper. There are several companies out there that sell uppers with option packages that go for about 400-500 dollars.

I've got a COLT AR-15A3 with a 16" barrel and telescoping stock (MT6731)
that I dearly LUV! :uhoh: Recently, mounted a Bushnell HOLO-sight on it, and
since it has become my all time favorite .223. :D

BTW, there is the breakdown on the gun and accessories:

Gun= $700.00
HOLO-sight= $195.00
Calvary Arms Mount= $50.00
Butler Creek Sling= $8.00

Total = $953.00, not bad for this set-up! :D

I own a Bushmaster A3 16" dissipator carbine w/ Vltor telescoping stock. M16A2 rifle-length sight radius; carbine length (32" long @ shortest stock setting). Chrome barrel and chamber. Love it.

If you want a bit more accuracy out of stock irons in a carbine package, I'd highly suggest the dissipator. The M4-style ones have a much shorter sight radius; take that into consideration if you're planning to use the stock sights much.

You can even go with the full sized A3 20" barrel models. They are 38.25" long with the fixed stock. Not sure if you can add a telescoping stock on a 20"er since I've never seen it, but doesn't mean its not possible.

Likewise check out the competition from RRA, Olympic, etc. They can usually be had for a few hundred cheaper and people are equally happy with them.
