I am wanting to reload for my AR. 20" Faxon 1:8 barrel. Am I likely to notice an ACCURACY difference between to 60 grain Hornady V-Max, Spitzer Point, and Hollow Point offerings? Am I likely to notice a PERFORMANCE difference on groundhogs and/or coyotes with the same bullets? TIA.

I prefer a SP for coyotes. I am pretty sure i hit a pup at 300yards a few month back and it didn't drop it. I do prefer V max for woodchucks. I have noticed my POI changes from bullet to bullet even if its the same weight so keep that in mind. If it were me and coyotes 200yards or less id run the v max. My 1-9 twist savage puts 5 in a dime or less at 100yards with 55gr.

Short answer is yes to both. In terms of terminal ballistics, the tip helps the Vmax expand and fragment. Not that the SP and HP don't expand, but there's a myriad of YT gelatin hunter videos that show the difference. The accuracy question requires the typical high road responses of: "Every barrel is different" and "You don't know until you try." But it's hard to go wrong with the vmax.
SP's on prairie dogs work, but the tipped varmint bullets are impressive.

the spite point will in theory be the least accurate. Vmax and hpbt will be close to equal all around with a Vmax having a little more explosive impact on groundsquirls.

All will do fine on coyotes. The spire point will shine on deer and larger game. But in the .224 bullet there’s not a huge difference among them as far as final expansion like there would be in larger calibers.

I’d load the Vmax because of the price. The hpbt match would probably be more accurate. But the price tag is a big jump last I bought some.

So far, I have pretty much settled on the V-Max as the most likely candidate to give me what I want (at the moment). If I don't like the results, then I will give the others a try. Thank you all.
