i'm trying to order a DNZ base for my 225 Winchester model 70, is this a WSM size action or just a standard short action? I always took it for granted that it was a short action, but I read a review on midway usa of a guy who ordered a DNZ mount and he had the same problem, he assumed short action, and then had to return it and get a WSM sized mount.
the DNZ website is not exactly clear either, it states to measure from the rear base screw, to the middle screw, and that it should be either "about" 3.25 for the short action, and "about" 3.5 for WSM actions. I measured with my calipers and my "about" size is over 3.7
is it just me, or is .2 a little more than "about"? and since when is a 225 Winchester built on a short magnum action? I've dug around online, and cant find anything about different action sized for post 64 model 70's, any help would be appreciated.
