I have killed several 1000 lb cows, one unfortunate horse, and many butcher pigs with a .22, but never at any more than 10 ft, and I knew I could hit what was necessary. Although it worked, it wasn't impressive - just neater than our other choices at the time. That doesn't make it a moose cartridge. I don't believe coyotes are any less entitled to a quick and humane death than any other animal. For that reason alone, I would never shoot any .22RF at a coyote over 30, maybe 50 yards away. VERY short range is the only way that a .22RF is suitable for coyotes and pulling the trigger at any longer ranges is just animal cruelty.
