Unfortunately, that is weighing on the back of my mind....but I'm not planning to participate in the panic mentality. We are not going to change our plans.

I was not suggesting that you should not go, or that you should panic, but only that you account for reasonably foreseeable circumstances caused by those who do panic.

Have made the trip from Brazos County, Texas to Danville, Illinois several times. Always carried my Colt Detective Special with a Pardner Pump 12ga in the trunk. Last time I did the return trip w/o stopping. Right at 16 hours.

Perfect timing. Warm weather, flowers starting to bloom. If you have time drive the Devils Backbone. Hwy 12 west out of San Marcos to Canyon Lake. Absolutely beautiful this time of year.

Although you need a License To Carry or it's reciprocal equivalent to conceal or open carry you don't need a license to have a firearm in your vehicle as long as it's out of sight. Have a good trip.

No I didnt think that, just acknowledging the hysteria.
We have confirmed that life is still pretty normal around new Braunfels. All the restaurants are open. The dance hall is hopping.

We drove straight through last year. Almost exactly 16hrs. That's not too bad. Mrs farmer is a good driver, and we trade off.
Come light and save space for the return trip.
Yep, we will be driving mrs farmer's f150. Plenty of room for a couple coolers of pork, and maybe a case or two of Lone Star. If I don't get a hog, there's an excellent meat market in New Braunfels called Scheels....

I would choose the SR9c from the pistols you listed. You yourself said it was the logical choice. We used to go to Texas once a year when I was a kid. My Mom was from a little West Texas town called Andrews. It was about 12-1300 miles from Atlanta to where she was from. We did get to see San Antonio once. My Uncle Johnny was living in Marble Falls & he & his wife took us sight seeing down there. I really enjoyed that. If I can ever get the money ahead I need to take my kids to Andrews & let them meet the our family that is still there.

With this idiotic hysteria over Corona, this might not be the best time to travel, even if you aren't sick. Places are closing, things are in short supply, etc.

Unfortunately...it is making a difficult decision for us. Illinois has now closed the schools in our state, so our son and grandkids will be home now.
