My family’s ranch straddled the Kerr/Bandera county line near Camp Verde, which is right between (shocker!) Kerrville and Bandera. That’s about 90 minutes or so from New Braunfels.... and a second cousin was a Guadalupe County deputy in Seguin, right down the road from New Braunfels. I spent most of my youth traipsing through those hills and swimming in the creeks of the Hill Country

That part of the earth means more to me than anywhere else!

May you both have a safe and scenic trip, and bring home the bacon!

Stay safe.

Small world. We will be in San Antonio all next week. Daytime temperatures for next week are forecasted to be in the ‘70’s and 80’s. My weather app shows a chance of T-Storms everyday in San Antonio but my kid that lives there says otherwise.

i’ll be packing the same edc I do here at home...Beretta 92FS. If I was taking a similar trip such as yours I would take my backup gun instead...a Beretta 92FS that has night sights that were replaced a couple of years ago.

The Lady will be packing her S&W 9mm Shield. I am giving a lot of thought of tossing a AR-15 with some loaded magazines just in case this coronavirus panic gets out of hand. There is a lot of empty country in Texas.

We should have planned a hog hunt!

In all seriousness, I have mentioned this several times on here, but Ruger pistols tend to rust on me much more than any others I have owned. Typically it’s the mag release, inside slide and in outer slide serrations and around pins. Have seen it on a LC9S pro and SR9c, neither of which I own anymore. If I took one down to Texas and carried IWB I’d need holster with good sweat shield or be constantly cleaning and oiling. Could just be that I’m a sweaty, hairy Neanderthal though.

I dont think you’ll find a lot of unrest down here, but people have gone completely stupid over the corona virus stuff. No TP, cleaning stuff, bottled water, paper towels, etc.

I’m shaking my head and absolutely don’t get it.

just keep your head on a swivel.

I’m on my way back from a trip to California and back. I did it with a H&K P-2000 9mm with two 10 rd mags. It came from California originally. It was in the trunk when we were in Cali.

Day before yesterday I saw long lines for toilet paper, baby wipes, hand sanitizer, bleach and cleaning wipes in San Gabriel Valley.

Yesterday went to a store in San Gabriel and the lines were longer, people were more tense than the day before and I saw some honking because of trying to get in and out of the spaces and parking lot. One dude was out of his car and threatening to beat this other guy down for wanting to get into a space next to him when he had his car door open into it while he yelled at his methy looking girlfriend for whatever.

Today I’m in Arizona and people seem more relaxed. More open carried pistols and revolvers than usual, but no honking or threats of beat downs.

So, what is your pick? Inquiring minds want to know.
I'd put my Micro on my hip, my G43 in the console, and my childbride would have either her 3" 36 or my 3" 101 in her bag on the floor by her feet.
Go with what you are confident with.
BTW, I'm playing with Inceptor loaded ammo right now but carry Critical Defense.

We drove straight through last year. Almost exactly 16hrs. That's not too bad. Mrs farmer is a good driver, and we trade off.

Yep, we will be driving mrs farmer's f150. Plenty of room for a couple coolers of pork, and maybe a case or two of Lone Star. If I don't get a hog, there's an excellent meat market in New Braunfels called Scheels....

I was with you until you wrote Lone Star. :barf: ;)

Take home some Shiner*, they make good Texas beer. :)

*most people seem to like Shiner Bock the best.

Of my choices I'd carry my Sig 365. I have several 10 and 12 round magazines. I also have a Ruger LC9s and it would be in the running. Of your choices it wouldn't take me long to make up my mind, LC9s all the way. Great little guns at a great price.

Good advice, now and always.
BTW. I have 1500 acres of corncobs available in SE Illinois if anyone wants to go old-school.
