I have a 3" sp101, well i guess it technically is a 3 1/16". I have been looking around and really havn't found any holsters for it. There are a slew of holsters for the 2" but none for mine.

Has anyone tried an open muzzle holster for the 2"? If so, how did it work?

What optionions are there out there?

DeSantis makes their Speed Scabbard (Belt Slide for your 3". Alessi would make you an IWB or OWB no problem. Mernickle Custom Leather would make a couple different units. e mail them all and find out. :) :cuss:

I've got a Bianchi Shadow high ride that will work for longer barrel SP's. Also Galco makes a variety of them for the hip or shoulder rigs. I've had good luck with Galco's new vertical CCW rig for my SP.

I have a Milt Sparks Summer Special (SS) for a S&W 1 7/8" 340 and a Versa Max 2 (VM2) for a S&W 3" 396 .44 spcl. Gun fit is what I'm most impressed with -- I highly recommend Milt Sparks products. Most people skimp on the belt -- don't do it -- make sure you get a high quality belt -- it makes all the difference.

The little Summer Special continues to amaze me re: gun fit, ease of reholstering and comfort.

I have carried a 3" S&W Model 60 in the Safariland "J" IWB (2" open ended) that the Summer Special replaced. It actually works fairly well.

I have a nice OWB leather Don Hume holster made for my 3 inch SP101s. I believe the holster model is #H720. You can see it on www.gunnersalley.com, where I got mine. Fits perfectly. You can also order directly from Don Hume. Haven't explored IWB options at all as I find IWB'ing a revolver to be thoroughly uncomfortable.

I had a Taurus 617 .357 mag. It's the one with a 7 shot cylinder that nobody made a decent holster for. I went to FIST, Inc. out of New York and they made me a custom holster for $55. I was very happy with their workmanship. They used high quality leather and heavy duty metal clip. Mine was designed for IWB, deep concealment so it went below the belt line. They have a variety of holsters available, including a custom kydex. Here's their website: http://www.fist-inc.com/

fist holster

i also have a fist holster and this is my second and wanting to get a third. but the one i have right now is for the sp101 3" and its one of the easiest guns to hide in an owb holster fit is tight but leave it in there and retension is perfect. lighting fast to draw. before that i had one for a Glock 30 and it worked just as well. now im going glock again with a g19 and the holster will be a fist. they make great holsters.

I bought my wife a Sparks PMK for her 3" '101. Its an OWB that rides pretty low, but holds the grip tight to the body. It's real tight to the belt, too- very difficult to thread on and off, but that's getting better. Fit-and-finish is outstanding, as is retention and concealment. In fact, I find myself wearing my wifes carry setup pretty often lately!
