I'm suprised that even my search hasn't returned any discussion on the movie. I am looking forward to it just based on it's historical signifigance. Yes I know it is going to be heavily fictionalized but none the less I think it is cool that the movie was made.

Molon Labe!

I think the better show (from a historical standpoint) is going to be on the History Channel at 8c/9p tonight. About 45 minutes from now.

I guarantee you will enjoy this movie if you go into it NOT expecting a historical piece.

This is literally a movie based off of a graphic novel loosely based off of a movie based off of the actual event.

I say this not as a negativity, but to just make sure it's known so people don't get let down by what is otherwise surely going to be a fantastic film.

This will be packed with some amazing action and very likely the best visuals ever captured on film.

One scene (the chick dancing all drunken-monkey like in the trailer) was even filmed underwater to give it a unique flowing look...which seems pretty ingenious to me.

Spike TV had a half-hour behind-the-scenes program on this film last night. Quite interesting. Anyone know back story behind the depiction of using trained and armored rhinos as an attack animal in ancient warfare?

I noticed a few local theaters scheduled special showings at 12:05 this Thursday! I probably won't make it until the weekend, myself. :D

I saw some sneak peeks on HBO and I really did not like what I saw. All computer generated graphics. Even the blood was drawn.

I have read a few books on Greek and Roman warfare and I doubt I could watch a movie like this and not look for some historical accuracy. IMHO, there is no point in doing the movie if you don't have some historical accuracy. I'll likely catch it on cable or video later on, but not at the movies.

This ain't gun related, so it needs to go over to Armed Polite Society.

That said, the battle of Thermopylae... ain't that where Molon Labe comes from to begin with?

Not really gun related, but I will close the thread on two notes:

1) I'll be sitting in a theater this weekend watching this.
2) This movie's directed by Zach Snyder. The guy responsible for the superior Dawn of the Dead remake a couple years back.
