One can never have too many upper variants anyway! :)

Can you tell my wife that? Since I now have an AR lower and a 300BLK upper on order, she has caught me eying one in .458 SOCOM, .45 and of course 5.56 Nato. She was not amused...

LOL! we all have similar issues. I told mine I ordered a new barrel. Do not mention the nice FA receiver and the troy rails.... it sounds too expensive! LOL!!
..there it goes again, the new couch for family room... lol!

I've read in a couple of places that the .300 whisper can be fire in the .300 Blackout but not vice-versa. Is this true or is it armchair ballistics?

Basically true, with the usual "it depends." The 300BLK chamber is based on one version of the 300 Whisper chamber, but has slightly more generous leade. In general most 300 Whisper ammo will be safe to fire in a 300BLK chamber, while 300BLK ammo may or may not be safe to fire in a 300 Whisper chamber because the greater leade in the 300BLK allows a bit more powder for a given pressure limit. If you're buying 300 Whisper from a reputable company like Hornady or Cor-Bon it should be fine in a 300BLK chamber.
