RELOADING INFO - OBSERVE ALL SAFETY PROTOCOLS.

I have a pound of IMR4350 and a box of 165gn Nosler Accubonds. I can find 150 and 180 grain IMR4350 recipes, but no manufacturer publised 165 grain bullet recipes. I suppose I could split the difference between them, but would rather chime in here first.

Any Help anyone?

I found a 67 and 66 grain recipe via a google search, but thought I'd chime ask here for more support since I'm not finding any listed on the manufacturers websites.

IMR specs
64-68grns powder for 150grn pills
61-65grns powder for 180grn pills

Thanks again,

jeepmor

165 grain Nosler bullet recipie

Jeepmor--Did you look in the Nosler reloading handbook? My Nosler 5th Edition lists a whole page of loads for 165-168 grain bullets. The Accubond came out after the 5th Edition came out, but as Nolser lists the same loads for each of its 165-168 grain bullets, I'd expect the Accubonds to fit right in with the rest of the Nosler bullets.

After all, the Accubond is just a more tightly-glued-together Ballistic Tip!

Anyhow, 165-168 grain Nosler bullet, for IMR 4350 (a powder I like myself, and use a lot of, BTW) the Nosler 5th says start with 62.0 grains (their most accurate load with this powder) for a velocity of 2955 fps, and the case filled 84%. At 64.0 grains, they got 3050 fps, and the case filled 86%. The max load given is 66.0 grains of IMR 4350, which got the Nosler engineers 3151 fps, and filled the case 89%.

I don't normally state specific powder amounts, but these are direct from the Nosler handbook.

If it were me, I'd start at the minimum load, since it was the most accurate, and move up by mebbe 0.1 or 0.2 grains at a time. If I got acceptable accuracy at or a little above the Nosler minimum, I'd leave well enough alone.

Good luck in your quest. Stay safe.

Thanks Smokeyjoe,

WARNING - LOAD DATA, OBSERVE ALL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

I was just perusing the Hodgdon website for data and found 2 recipes on Reloaders.org. Now I know I'm loaded a bit hot at 65 grains of IMR4350 for the 165 grain accubond bullet and I will be pulling these apart and skimming out a few grains. That won't take long. IMR 4350 recipes for the 165 grain bullet seem to be oddly lacking on the net or the Hodgdon data tables.

I have the Speer 13 manual and there is no WSM data listed. Time to go buy a new manual. At least I'm one grain below max, that was my main concern. I rolled up 6@65grns, [email protected], and [email protected], all under max. Now I'll roll the rest of the cases down at 62 since this was the "accurate" load and bump up in 0.2 grain increments. I'll have to get a trickler, this rifle powder doesn't seem to meter as precisely in my uniflow.

More work to do, hope to be collecting some group data next week. Maybe, been sidetracked putting in a 500sqft patio of late. Almost done with that, then it's time to concentrate on making an accurate load for hunting season come October.

Sounds good!

Jeepmor--Hope it works well for you!

You got that right!! If IMR 4350 has one fault, it's those huge cylindrical granules! It doesn't meter precisely in my Uniflow, either. But a trickler solves that problem nicely.

I set the Uniflow to deliver slightly less than the desired amount, then trickle in the last 1-2-3 powder granules. There's a finesse to it, but it's not hard to learn; about like not burning toast.

And BOY does the IMR 4350 make the hassle of loading it, worth the trouble, in terms of accuracy and consistency!!

Good shooting to you, and, as always, the journey is part of the destination.

HERE IS SOME YOU MIGHT TRY FOR 300 WSM
ACCURATE POWDERS 165 GR. BULLETS
