I wanted to get more info on 308 ammo. My general question is this:

Which is more accurate (in order) and by what magnitude (MOA)
a. Match grade ammo
b. Typical hunting round
c. NATO spec, milsurp in battle packs

out to say...200 -600 yard range

I put it in the order that I think it would be, but I could be wrong. The rifle ?? Savage 10FP, 26 inch barrel.

thanx in advance

From what I've shot in my own rifle, a Remington PSS, you listed them in the correct order. I do prefer my own handloads over them all. Once in a while some of the cheaper military surplus has surprised me, and shot very well, at least out to 200 yards.

I would have to agree with your order on those choices of ammo................as a general rule.

Federal Gold Medal Match and Black Hills match ammo are both VERY good stuff.

On the opposite end, the Australian Surplus ammo that is on the market now is extremely accurate and can give just about any round a run for its money. But stay FAR away from the Indian ammo that is floating around - it is BAD stuff..................... dangerous bad in some cases. :what:

I agree they're in the right order.

I haven't tried the Aussie surplus, but I have found the Portugese (FNM) surplus to be the best and most accurate surplus I have tried so far. It does about 2MOA in my CETME and 1.5MOA in my Rem700.
