Just curious if anyone else has tried this combo. I have data for Barnes tsx fb in that weight, and according to jbms database, the vmax measures .926 in length and the tsx 9.55. Also a copper vs the light jacket varmint bullet. The Hodgdon 45.2 gr starting charge looks right in the ballpark.

It’s probably gonna be an all-nighter winter coyote smacker load(those moonlight nights in the snow) so I’m trying to keep it in single base/temp stable powders.

I also have some N140 i could try. I’d like N135, but I have declared a spending freeze currently(I have more sense than most politicians, what do you know) at my house. 🤣🤣

Varget is gonna be way too slow. N150 as well. Any input appreciated.

It should work well Hogdons has data for 110 goes up to 50.2C. I remember it was one of the powders my uncle shot in 30x47 in BR with 125s. Be interested in your results as I have a bunch of it and not using at the moment

IMG_3295.jpeg I ran it through Gordon’s Reloading Tool. I ran out of time to work a ladder up today. There are powders listed that are several steps either side of Benchmark on the burn rate chart, so…

Yes. 110 VMax and Benchmark. They were pretty accurate, over 3,000 fps, recoil similar to a .243 and fun to shoot
Don’t happen to remember your recipe do you? Or if the 45-52 gr range is where it was? That’s looking good from all I’ve interpolated.

I don’t recall but start with 45gn and see where it goes

@JmacD

I found my load info for .308

110 VMax, 47gn Benchmark, OAL to Hornady’s spec, Federal brass and primer, 3,260fps.

My rifle was a 1:12 twist. Be aware that with a faster twist like a 1:10 you might experience bullet failure. Varmint bullets have a thin jacket.

I tried the 110s in a 1:10 twist 30-06 load and was vaporizing them half way to the target

Thank you very much! That was one of the concerns that I had, and one reason I was asking questions :) I am running a 10 twist. I would think I’d probably be all right pushing 3200-ish or so . The entire point, is to try to vaporize some of the coyotes that are decimating the deer herd in the area we’ve been hunting! to say nothing of the farmers cattle!

If you have blow ups with the 110s try the 125s

Good luck and kill them all!
Thank you very much! I am rather looking forward to getting the 6GT built… I think that could be a fun little coyote gun, even though it seems to be relegated to just the PRS stuff right now.

I have been testing some 125gr no name seconds that are extremely long (300BLK?) for the weight. I am using shooters world in a AR10 with 1:10 twist and they are performing well with 3050fps and 1" groups at 50yd with a reflex red dot.

Not Benchmark, but those bullets seem to be quite accurate.

Not 308 but in my teens the only rifle I had was a sporterized 1917 30-06. For long range jackrabbits, Speer 110 gr hollow points over a charge of IMR 4320 was potent medicine. Sorry I don’t remember the charge weight, been 60 years!

I haven't tried it, but I watched this test where they tried to blow up a 110 Barnes tac-x with the long black tip. Peeled it almost into 3 parts with a 300 win mag but it was still one chunk. If one was trying to red mist a yote it wouldn't be the cheap option but might make for a good show. The cx or the monoflex don't seem to be enough cheaper to seek them out....

I can say that new Starline brass will not fit the 52 gr compressed charge. I stopped at 47 for tonight,& it’s into the neck. The vmax is so short though… feels very strange when the smallest bullet I’ve loaded is a 165 btsp interlock. lol

I have shot that bullet with compressed loads of 748 in 308, it shoots well. It was my favorite bullet in 300blk

I have a Rem 700 308 26" barrel 1:10 twist. I use 50 grains of Varget with 110 Vmax COL at 2.810. FPS is 3190. This recipe is a tac driver. It makes a mess out of coyotes and ground squirrels, but it sure is fun to shoot. Hope this helps
