.32 Police Cartridge = .32 S&W Long? (NOT "New Police)

I hate to ask because I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but there's enough doubt that I want to check:

I have a Colt Pocket Positive, the barrel is stamped ".32 Police Cartridge." I understand the ".32 New Police Cartridge" is definitely .32 S&W Long, but is it significant that my barrel lacks the word "New"?

There's no fouling cup in the frame, and wasn't .32 S&W (Short) a BP cartridge originally?

There's a lot of confusing information about this on the Internet, including random people claiming that it's the same as .32 Colt, or sales ads saying "Colt Pocket Positive in .32 Police (not S&W Long!!!)"

I'm just triple-checking to make sure that what little pressure the .32 S&W Long produces isn't too much for this neat little gun.

Your Pocket Positive was intended for use with .32 S&W Long ammo. The only difference from the Colt stuff was the bullet profile. You can also use .32 S&W although I wouldn't know why.

all three can be used as well as 32 acp.I load for all.only load for 32 s&w because I have shells.other wise I load the 32 long.

In the revolver, where would the rimless .32acp headspace? No rim for the extractor and no place in the cyl chambers for the case mouth to establish headspace.

Loosecannon the 32 ACP is a semi-rimmed cartridge and the small rim will allow you to shoot the round in a revolver. I have done it myself in an S&W model 31. It works just fine.
