I know this has been discussed before but the search engine did not like "356 357" or "9mm 357"..

I have access to about 2,000 .356 9mm's but don't load 9mm's. I'm getting ready to buy some 357 RNFP's for CAS loads and figured I'd test the waters to see if anyone has tried light weight 9mm's in a 38 loading before doing so.

These are just under 100 grn cast bullets so I would have to work up some test loads.

My current pet load for CAS is a 125grn RNFP with 2.4 grn of Clays and a Federal or WLP primer.

So, has anyone done it? What did you think of the results?

They will work. They may lead pretty bad depending on their size, your revolvers throat size, and the hardness of the bullets. Taper crimp them or lightly roll crimp them. Try a few and see.

They'll work, as Walkalong said. I've used 9mm bullets in a pinch for CAS shooting and they worked just fine. I didn't have any unusual leading in my two revolvers, but they all vary.

Hope this helps.

Fred
