357 Sig. Loading and Cast bullets

Two weeks ago I purchased a M&P 357 sig. took it to the indoor range last Friday and shot Winchester and Speer GD Lawman, Rem. UMC 125 gr. HP. ammo my handloads were PMC FMJ, Gold Dot and a cast alloy Round nose 125 gr. (300 rounds) with zero malfunctions. The round nose is a Lee bullet that I use in my 9's. I was quite impressed with the accuracy and recoil was no big deal. The Winchester shot the tightest groups. I used Accurate #7, #9 and Hod. Longshot. The Longshot was top end MV. What really surprised me was the cast bullet it was also very accurate. My only complaint is when you touch off a round it's like standing behind a F-16 when the driver kicks it into afterburner. Any suggestions on a lower flash producing powder?

Also what cast bullets are you using shooting the 357 sig.?

This is my first poly gun and to be quite frank this M&P 357 is like an extension of my hand and carrying this full size gun you hardly know it's there. With that said I putting up my 4013, Hi-Power and 1911 as CWW guns.

My daily carry gun is a 357 Sig XD, since it's such a flat shooting round and extremely accurate. I've put a few lead bullets downrange through it, but the majority of my loading in this caliber is with Berry's 124 grain RNFP bullet, over Accurate # 9 powder. It's accurate and the # 9 fills the case to prevent bullet setback.

The 357 sig has such a short neck that you must be crimping over the ogive of the round nose boolit. That can cause the bullet to be pushed back into the case when feeding/hitting the feed ramp. Most sig bullets are of the TC,(truncated cone), style so that the neck has the major bullet diameter to crimp into.

The Lee TC bullet you are using. Do you shoot as cast and Tumble lube it or do you size and lube?

Turk, it falls from the mold at .3565 +- 1 thou, so I simply tumble lube it and load. It chambers and shoots just fine without sizing. That's from a 6 cavity lee mold, I like how fast I can cast a bunch of them. Quick and easy, I can cast one day lube to dry overnight and load the next day if needed.

That's from a KKM drop in 357 sig barrel for my M-22 glock.
