Need more info.

Leading where in the barrel, at what loads of PP, BHN or alloy composition, would all help.

No barrel leading, just not accurate.Barrel slugs right at .400,bulltes sized to .4015,but dont shoot worht a darn,Like I said loads with accurate #5 starting from 5.5grn-6.2grns.Power Pistol from 5.0grns-6.5 grns.Best of the bunch was 5.7grn over water dropped, but even at that 5inch group from a rest @ 15yds is very poor.I can off hand shoot my Plated 155grn on 7.2grn of AA#5 @ 15yds 3" group.

I'd experiment with your crimp and also weigh your bullets (sized but without lube) to get a batch all within +/- 5gr. Not all the time but just to be certain you're giving yourself the best opportunity for a tight group.

Try a different bullet design - maybe your gun just doesn't like that particular bullet. Get a box of commercial cast and see if that changes anything.

I've not heard of XDs being bullet-sensitive/particular, but I guess it's possible.

Out of curiosity, what kind of accuracy are you getting vs. what you want to achieve?

Quoheleth I have shoot several groups of 10rnds,average size is more that 6-8" @ 15yds from a rest.Off hand with plated I can shoot sub 4" @ 15yds all day long.3" groups @25yds from rest would work.

[shrugging shoulders]

Maybe your gun just doesn't like that particular lead bullet. I don't understand why, but I don't understand why my wife doesn't like Reuben sandwiches, either.

My last thought...you said the gun likes 155gr plated, but you're running 175gr LTC. I wonder if the issue is bullet weight or construction (which is what you're really asking, too, I think). Do you have access to either heavier plated bullets or lighter cast lead?

I wish I had something definite to tell you. Maybe RCModel will come along - he usually has an answer when no one else does.

I have tried several different commercially cast .40 lead bullets (round nose, truncated cone, semi-wadcutter) with fast (Bullseye, AA#2, HP38, W231) to medium (Unique, HS6, AA#5) burning powders in a Ruger P94, S&W 4006, and S&W 610. Couldn't get any of them to shoot anywhere near as accurately as a jacketed (not plated) bullet. Waste of reloading components in my opinion. Same experience with 9mm also.

I have a .40 cast bullet load that is a tack driver in my Colt 1911/.40 and my CZ-75/.40.

Missouri Bullet 170gn LSWC, 3.8 gns 231, 1.040 OAL. Colt does around 1.0" from a rest @ 25 yards; CZ does around 1.25-1.50" @ 25 yards from a rest.

Not saying anyone else's pistol will do this.

I have a friend the is going to give me some his 155 cast, hope this is the answer,I love casting my own boolits, lol.I thought I might mention that the XD is a 4" barrel. We shall see!!!
