Well, maybe not P-dogs but definately interesting results for a 45-70. During the summer months I loaded up another bunch of different loads to try on hogs and two were for my 1895G in 45-70. I loaded some 300 grain Remington JHP's up to 2200 fps with IMR4198 and had found that they blew up pretty severely during testing. I just tested one on a 150lb boar and the results were better than I'd hoped for. The pig was standing broadside at about 30 yds. I hit just behind the shoulder low in the chest. When I approached the hog I found lung everywhere. I rolled him over and the gaping exit wound I expected was not there. No exit at all. When I cleaned the pig I found that no fragments had made it to the off side and the entrance hole was the size of a tennis ball. I'm not sure these would be the best hunting loads but thought some folks here would like to hear about the results.

I have loaded the 300 grain JHP pretty hot with IMR 4198 also.

I tested terminal ballistics on a roadkill deer and had widely varying results... anything from massive destruction when hitting bone with exit holes 8 inches in diameter to straight pass throughs with exit holes no bigger than a quarter...

Im not sure what the big difference was with performance except that the bullet maybe just needs to hit some stout bone to expand fully...

Either way though, it would more than do the job....
