Currently sorting by headstamp, inspecting, resizing, measuring length and case gauging several thousand 45 ACP brass purchased on various eBay and estate auctions. Brass condition ranges from new to well used. Measuring brass length after resizing using an electronic digital caliper. Some of the brass measures as short as .845" and these show no sign of ever being trimmed. Have found no brass over the .898" maximum length yet. Most are in the .884" to .892" area after resizing. A very few over .893" which I trim back to that length. I'm going to load some of the shortest lengths to test. I'll let you know the results as soon as I'm finished.

I bet they'll work fine. I have loaded thousands of .45acp and I haven't measured the length of a case yet. I think the only measurement I've taken was at the case mouth to check my crimp die setting.

I've also loaded and shot tens of thousands of .45 acp ammunition and have yet to measure the length of a case. I do sort by headstamp, due to the varying thickness of the different brands of brass, but other than that, I just load and shoot.

Hope this helps.
