Hello Guys

I just changed my Powder from True Blue to W231 and cannot find written Data for using 200g LSWC Bullets (.452 Diameter);

All the Data i see from Winchester say : .451 Diameter (200g LSWC) using the w231;

My Question is: Can i use the same data for the w231 using the .452 diameter bullets?

Thank you in advance for the feedback!!!!

Hodgdon actually makes the Win 231 powder and it's twin HP-38. Check out Hodgdon's web site for load data, they have a bunch of data for you.

Hodgdon labels them and sells them, but they do not make it. They have never "made" any powder.

Well yes that is true. The same contractor makes both Hodgdon's and Winchester powders FOR Hodgdon. Winchester itself is out of the powder business.

For 200/230 gr bullets, whether .451" or .452", around 5.0 gr of W231/HP38 (same powder) has been hitting the sweet spot for consistent powder burn for me producing very accurate loads.

I shoot MBC Bullseye #2 LSWC 200gr .452" bullets over 5.2gr of HP-38 with CCI #300 large pistol primers with a length of 1.05" which leaves about 1/32" of the shoulder protruding from the case mouth. Cartridge length of SWC loads should be measured from the shoulder of the seated bullet since SWC nose profiles are so varied.

Disclaimer...this load is for my SA XD45 Tac which doesn't like SWC bullets. I usually get away with only 1 FTE every 30 rounds or so. Also, most people use 5.0gr of W231/HP38 with 200gr LSWC bullets...I did too until I ran out of Remington #2 1/2 large pistol primers. When I ran out, I could only find CCI #300 bricks. When I switched, I experienced fairly consistent stovepipe failures and failures to slide-lock. In the end, I had to increase my charge slightly to 5.2gr to retain proper function. YMMV
