I have a .450 (.458) Ackley which I have always fired manufactured ammo in and never bought reloading dies for in the past. Recently I found and bought a set of old dies named .450 American at a gun show. I made up some cartridges out of blank casings which mike exactly the same size as the Ackley and chamber nicely in this gun. I fired a couple of them with light bullets and light loads to see what would come up. They worked fine. Has anyone ever heard of a .450 American or was this just the die manufacturer's description of the Ackley?
