The other day, I ran across one of those .45-70 Lee Enfield conversions, and it got me to thinking.
I've shot a .458 Win. with some reduced 350 grain loads, and it was pretty fun: the .450 would be about the same. The .450 Marlin should work in a short bolt action with a magnum bolt face pretty nicely, barring any feed rail tinkering possibly needed to get a straight case and blunt bullet to feed.
Of course, nothing is new under the sun, and I now see that Steyr actually makes such a beast. Alas, it's a Steyr. Nothing wrong with them, just awfully funny looking.
Any thoughts on an easy way to put one together? Savage maybe?
