I’m finishing up a fun project rifle- converted an old almost junk Turkish 98 into something that shoots 45ACP and feeds from 1911 magazines.

I’ve only done basic function firing so far, but I’m hoping to start having some fun with it over the next couple of weeks.

230 ball ammo is classic and good enough, but what do y’all think about going lighter and faster in a 16” barrel? Anyone with actual experience using loads in a carbine instead of a pistol?

I had completely overlooked the 45 Super. I imagine it works well.

So far, I love how quiet this rifle is. It is as much fun as my first 22 was.

I saw a converted Mauser a few years ago and thought about buying it. I was thinking about having the chamber reamed out for .460 Rowland. I know the receiver can handle the pressure, and I'm sure any well-made barrel could handle it as well. But the seller didn't have any info on the barrel and I didn't want to take the chance.

But I bet a .460 Rowland Mauser would make a fun shooter and probably a good 100-150 yard deer rifle (with the right bullets).
