Ranch Products introduced those some time ago. Advantages stated to be that pairs of shells would go in a standard ammunition box and belt loops.
I have READ of late model S&W .45 revolvers having erratic headspace leading to misfires if loaded with unclipped ACPs. But it is also said that chamber throat dimensions are held closer for better accuracy. A M25-2 can be a pig to get to shoot accurately, but it will go off even if you are willing to punch out the empties with a stick to save the cost of clips.
