In this article, Toby Bridges documents how he was able to harvest a huge whitetail deer by fashioning Winchester Pink AA 28 gauge shotgun wads into .50 caliber sabots. Testing his Pedersoli Denali rifle with the wads, 300 grain Hornady SST bullets and 90 grains of 777 produced a 1.5 inch group at 100 yards.

Many years ago, my brother and I used 12Ga shot cups for sabots for our 75cal cannon, shooting 69cal cast balls. The shot cups made the balls a lot more accurate out to 50 yds with only a 14" barrel. A friend of mine even tried them in his 12Ga shotgun and found them more accurate than rifled slugs at the time; 1969, 1970.
