morning got a question, have been using superformance powder for my creedmoor 6.5 with 140 hpbt serria, but getting hard to find. other than h4350 is there any other good powder to use. just bought a new barrel from ibi barrels, and would like to know what everyone else is using

IMR 4451, RL16&17, Ramshot Hunter seem to be popular for the 140 grainers. I have had my best luck with RL-16.

I've seen some guys packing those cases with RL-26 and getting crazy velocity

Any of the 4350 labeled powders will have load data for 6.5 Creedmoor. I've yet to have a rifle shoot H4350 well, but AA4350 works very well. It needs max load to get good velocity though.

H4350 is my go-to powder, but I've experimented a bit with IMR4451 and Ramshot Hunter a few years ago when I was temporarily unable to find H4350. Both showed promise, but before I got too far into them located H4350 and just never revisited those.

A few years ago, before the current shortage, I was shopping for powder to load 6.5CM... and none of the 4350's were to be had, so I just picked up some IMR4451 and started load development with that. So far, so good. There are quite a few powders that will work well enough, but it just depends on what your particular rifle likes. Even powder as slow as H4831 will work, if necessary.

I just picked up a rifle in 6.5c and have the same question about powders. I have Varget and 8208, but no 4350 of any flavor. For now, I'll be shooting up some factory ammo that came with the rifle, but I will soon be looking for components.

I have had 4 Creedmoors and 3 of them was not picky when it came to powders. I have had good groups with both of the 4350s, 760, and RL17. I am working with Superformance right now. Have a ladder load ready to test if the weather warms this week. 2 of my guns really liked RL17.

I've even loaded 6.5CM with IMR4064... it worked well enough, but was not as accurate as IMR4451. It's obvious the sweet spot is the 4350'ish burn range, but these days it's 'run what you brung...'

I hear and read about Varget, but I have yet to own a gun or caliber that liked it. I'm sure there are some out there, but they aren't in my safe. That said, if that is all I had I would shoot it. I don't need MOA to kill a deer.

when you say two liked RL17, liked as in .5 or less at 100 ? just looking for what to expect and any specifics if you are comfortable sharing. I was going to start working up RL17 for 140 gr BTHPs

I've had good success with Varget on the lighter 130gr pills, TSMK. I also had very good luck with RL-17 but started blowing primers when the ambient temp got to the mid 80's and higher. I was using brass that uses the small primers which normally take the pressure better than the large. So I quit using it and only use H4350 now for the 140's.

Webrx, I’ll chime in on RL 17 groups. I can get 5/8” to 3/4” groups at 100 yards using RL 17. Once I get there I’m pretty happy as my goal is hunting.

My Bergara would shoot 3 shot groups .75" or less consistently with 41 gr. of RL17 under a 143 ELD-X. 5 shot groups were still sub-MOA. My M18 Mauser likes the 130 gr Sierra TGK with RL17, but I'm not that happy with them on game. They are pretty explosive at close range. The best load that I have for the Bergara is H4350 and the 129gr. Nosler Accubond LR. Sub-MOA at 500 yards.

The Ruger American Predator liked anything. 120gr Barnes X (the old ones), 120gr Speer, 130gr Accubond and RL17, H4350, 760, and IMR-4250 all shot sub-MOA. Possibly one of the handiest little rifles that I have owned. Paired with a Vortex 4-12X Diamondback, it was shear death on whitetails. Wish I still had it. Never tried any of the 140gr though.

iam looking at H4831 SC for the new barrel i'am buying from IBI barrels out west. i find i'am having trouble with my powder measure liking h4350 jams up alot and get alot of overpour.

been trying the h4350 powder at 100yards works great but at 400yards i get alot of spread on the rounds. been using 140bthp hornady, with 40.5 grains to 40.8 grains. doesnt show any promise with the IBI barrel. i'am starting to wonder if i should start load testing the h4831sc powder or go back to the superformance powder??

Your pretty light on the load. I'm over 42gr with the 140gr ELD-M. 2.820" OAL. I'm using Lapua and Starline brass. Primers that give me the best accuracy and consistency is the Fed GM205M(AR). My Velocity is 2700+ fps with single digits SD's. I loose accuracy below 2700 fps.

Do you have any crony info?
