I was trying to work up a load with 6.5 Grendel for my rifle. I’ve got a 24” barrel and was looking for a good target load with a 123 grain bullet.
There is not a lot of information on AR comp loads for 6.5 Grendel. From what I could gather 27 grains was a good place to start.
However after loading them up and taking them to the range. That seems a little on the hot side of things. I was chronographing them at 2450 ft/s and I was expecting 2200ft/s. It also looked like I was getting a little bit of flattening on the primers (cci small rifle). I’m going to drop it down to 26 grains and see what happens but that was not what I expected at all.
Possibly the data I was looking at was for a 16” barrel but I don’t think so. I might just switch powders entirely to IMR 8208 xbr.
