6mm steel or lead ammo?

I've got several bb/ pellet guns in my collection, all of them .177 caliber.
My wife picked up a nice air soft CO2 powered revolver, which is fun and all, but I'm curious if, due to the loading mechanism (they look like moon clips that hold the ammo) if it could hold 6mm steel or lead ammo.

I know air soft is not in the scope of the THR air gun forum, but I don't consider this an air soft question.

If the mods disagree, close and or delete with my apology.

I would avoid the steel to try and reduce wear on the barrel as most air guns, and I would assume air soft, use softer steel than normal firearms. As to trying it I can't imagine you would get very much velocity as #4 buck is the correct size but weighs 1.34 grams vs. a normal weight air soft bb weighing .20 grams.

My big question is, why? The plastic bbs are safer, and it won't be a good tool for pest control. Using a different kind of ammo will likely be less accurate, so, I don't see the point in using anything other than what is intended for it.

The denser pellets, up to the point that the airsoft gun can no longer propel it adequately, are generally more accurate and less sensitive to wind and light obstructions between the shooter and the target. I use mostly .20 and .25 gram plastic 6mm pellets, but the aluminum 6mm pellets are usually .30 grams and some of the "sniper rifle" airsoft AEGs can use .43 gram and higher weight pellets. Haven't ever seen anyone try anything heavier than a .70 pellet though.

Ok, I would think that they would be too heavy to shoot fast enough to get any sort of accuracy, but i have no experience with airsoft.
