I picked up a Super 14 barrel in 7-30 Waters for my G2 Contender. Now, to make up some brass for loading. I have some various brands of 30-30 Winchester brass, but decided to buy some to dedicate to the Waters loading. I could not find 7-30 brass, so I bought 100 Privi Partisan 30-30 Winchester cases.
My question is about the bullets I would like to use for fire forming. I happen to have a couple boxes of Hornady 175gr. 7MM bullets I got years ago at a very cheap price.I really don't have use for them in my 7MM Remington Magnum, so I thought I would use them up to fire form my 7-30 Waters brass. Looking through published loads for Contenders I found one that shows a starting load of 26.5gr. of H335 under the 175gr. round nosed Hornady bullet.
What say you? Would this be a load that would accomplish fire forming without being unsafe for my G2 Contender?
In one way it is to just use up bullets I have no other use for. In another way, it's a way to use bullets that are available, with almost any 7MM bullets being difficult to find in my area.
I have been able to find one box of Hornady SP 120gr.and one of Nosler BT 120gr. which I plan to use to develope my hunting loads with.
