7.62x25mm Tokarev -vs- .30 Carbine

Can anyone tell me how the ballistics of the 7.62x25mm Tokarev out of a PPSch-41 would compare with the .30 Carbine out of a M1 Carbine? Thanks.

Interesting post...I googled the PPSch-41 and found a gun I'd never seen before. Are they available anywhere in the States?

30 Carbine from M1 is 110 grains at 1975fps. Someone chronoed Norinco 7.62 out of a PPSh-41 at 1725fps, probably a 87 grain pill.

Both drill a 30 caliber hole clean through, though the PeePeeShaw has a 71 round drum that fires 900 rpm.

Using Gabe's data, the M1 carbine has 950 Ft/lbs of energy and the PPSH has 575 Ft/lbs. Seems like a bit of a difference to me.

The M-1 Carbine is much handier, weighing in at just over 6lbs, while the PPSH is a portly 11(ish) pounds.

I think the ppsh is 8 lbs unloaded and 12 pounds loaded with a 71 round drum. It is 10ish lbs with a 35 rnd magazine.

Interesting comparison. I guess I never considered the similarities between 7.62x25 and M1 Carbine ammo. Of course there's one big difference. There's no readily-available handgun that takes carbine.

Actually, there is (and was). For new production, look no further than the Ruger New Model Blackhawk. And let's not forget the AMT Automag series, which chambered the 30Cal Carbine round in a semi-auto pistol....
