I started to reload some x39 and realized the last Edition of the Lyman manual has the H-335 listed at an unachievable level. 34 gr of H-335 is way outside of what's listed on Hodgdon's website. Glad I double checked.

I have plenty of 1680 since I'm loading subs for .300 AAC Blackout so I think I'll start there. It's for an AR15 by the way and not my SKS or AK. Thayer get commie stuff.

RL-7 gives me tiny little groups in my 7.62x39, just in case you are looking for something different.

What bullets are you using? I have used H-335 in 7.62x39 up to 31.5 grains with 125 grain bullet - best was 30.1 with the Hornaday SPBT bulet in my old vz-58. AA-1680 really is THE go to powder for 7.62x39mm in my humble opinion, and I use it extensively for bullets ranging from 123 to 160 grains, jacketed and home cast. H-4895 was another one that gave good results over the years. Loads were built for both sem auto vz-58 and bolt action CZ 527M/CSR. Anything I can help you with?

If I remember it correctly the 1680 was the propellant designed specifically for loading the 7.62x39. Anyway that is what I use with great results in my SKS's and Mini 30. Never bothered to try anything else. I worked up good loads but still only shoot steel cased stuff as it is cheaper to buy loaded than the jacketed bullets are by themselves.

Hodgdon's website also used a 24" barrel and 50 thou shorter OAL. Manuals are always slightly different. The 2 grains difference in weight won't matter.

Best load I had for that weight in the vz-58 was 30.1 grains H-335, but with JSP. I shot 125 gr FMJ with 29 grains H-335 with good results.
Now using AA1680, I had a 123gr FMJ plinker load at 24 grains, a short range load chronoed at 2100 FPS. Not bad. 27 grains 1680 under a 123gr SP generated a decent all purpose round that steps out at 2300 FPS. Those are both chronoed out of an 18.5" CZ 527M barrel.
