My Ruger American in .308 with its skinny barrel is far more accurate than my 700 ADL Varmint heavy barrel.
My RA in .223 isn't bad either.

When I worked in a gun shop the manager ordered a couple of 710s (predecessor to the 770) sight unseen. They sat on the shelves for months, mostly because none of the gun salesmen would show them to customers. They finally ended being sold at cost to a hunting club for raffle prizes at a fundraising dinner.

    First prize - a new Remington 710!
Second prize - two new Remington 710s!

I plan on an American being aa near-future purchase, and wouldn't take a 770 if it were given to me (aside from being trading stock). The rifles are night and day, with Ruger being better quality

It's still on the website, but Remington is infamous for not updating the website. I'm delighted to report that it's not in the 2015 catalog.

Maybe you can still get one from the Custom Shop. ;)
