7mm Rem Mag Pet Loads

Just kind of wanted to see the different loads. I'll start out. My favorite load that works great in my gun (Rem 700 BDL) is:

Win Brass
Hornady Interlock 139gr BTSP
IMR4350 57gr
OAL 3.290
CCI LRMP

This consistently gets me 1/2" groups at 200yds.

The best accuracy I've had has been with a Speer 130 gr. and 145 gr. PSP BT's with an almost max powder charge of RL22 with consistent 1/2" MOA from my 700 SPS, and my beater Rem 710 likes them too.

I do however load the Hornady 139's as well and they MOA very nicely as well, probably about the same. I'm just partial to those Speer's because I've found them to be a bit more consistent in weight and diameter.

1/2" @ 200 yds. is outside of my abilities these days. If I'm shooting those kind of groups it's deffinitely happening at 100 yds., maybe 150 from time to time depending on if my old eyes are working well that particular day.

I've posted on the 7mag a while back, I can honestly say there isn't much that my 700 BDL won't digest well, shot 139 grain honady's for years with a load of 63.grns of IMR4831 and it worked very well indeed. Currently I'm hung on these 160 grn Accubonds behind some IMR7828. I guess these are my favorite at this time along with the 150 grn Nolser BT's. My 7 likes the slower powders, IMR 7828/4831, RL22, H1000 and N165. I have a bunch of the 7828 and it works.

Yeah my reloading mentor gave me some 7828 that I have yet to try out that he got in 1992. There's only enough to do around 25-30 rounds which would only do a workup unless I did a very small workup which I don't like to do. He doesn't have a 7mm RM anymore though so had no need for the powder. I have two 1lb jugs of the IMR4350 of the same lot, which I really only use my 7mm for deer hunting, so it should last me a good while.

jwrowland, that powder charge surprises me. I put that much IMR 4350 in a .30-06 case.
I'm glad you started this thread. We're just starting to load 7-mag so I needed some reading material on it.

Oh I could easily put up to 60 gr of IMR4350 in there, and it would be a full case without being compressed, but in the workup I did, the 57gr charge outshot all my other loads. All the other loads were around an inch spread but during the workup the 57gr had a spread of .562". I'm sure if I played with the OAL some it could tighten up, but I'm quite pleased in a hunting round with a spread of .562".

I haven't played with any Nosler Partitions yet in my 7mm RM, but I may need to ask for some from Santa this year.

I have used IMR4350 (60-61gr max) for 40+yrs behind a Sierra 160 SPBT Matchking. Now this load is considered as max and maybe over on some book so workup your own loads. Always be safe... When I developed this load in the 70's it would shoot one ragged hole (1.25" high) at 100yrds, out of my Rem 700BDL and my brothers Ruger M77. Never had a range where I could shoot out beyond 100yrds. Where I use to hunt at, I needed to be able to make 250yrd shots, the reason the zero is high. Now being older with aging eyes I can no longer produce those grouping anymore. There are a lot more powder to choose from now too. The last of that powder batch was loaded this summer. So I will workup some new loads with the next batch of powder to make sure nothing as changed in 40 yrs.
