8mm Kurz question...

That really nice thread on the StG44 got me thinking.

Was any other production rifle ever chambered in 8mm Kurz?
 
I don't believe so, unless you want to count the various "Volksturm" rifles that were made as a last-ditch effort at the end of the war; there were plenty of MP44/StG44s left at the end of the war to "temporarily" equip a lot of forces, but by the time those went out of service, everyone was already moving to 7.62x39mm, so there wouldn't really be any need for something in the 8mm Kurz chambering. A shame, really.
 
I may be very wrong on this, but I recently picked up a book titled something like "Small arms of the 20th century". Anyway, in it they were saying that the first Belgium FN FAL prototype was originally chambered in the 8mm kurz round.
 
I read the same thing long time ago. wasn't this cartiage in the same class as
the .30 M1 carbine?
