Well still looking, held a few, a kimber, springer, sti, taurus, nighthawk and rock island.

Going to look at a springfield 1911 this morning. It has Novak sights which are my favorite, been having a hard time finding a 9mm 1911 without target sights.

Anyone notice that Kimber uses a plastic main spring housing? Talk about cutting corners.

If your reason is ".45ACP ammo costs too much" IMHO makes near zero sense to be looking at $1000+ 1911 pistols so you can shoot "cheaper ammo".

Take a look at the RIA Tactical 9mm About $430 from places like Centerfire Sytems or the STI Spartan 9mm for about $600 or even the Taurus PT-1911 9mm for about $525.

.22 conversion kit will do the trick for trigger control and letting go the first shot.

Practicing multiple shots like double tapping first with the .22 and switch to the .45 top and see how you like it.

If it has "Tactical" in the name it has to be good.

Its just the name to differentiate it form their "GI" model that has better sights and other improved creature comforts. Plenty of other goofy names out there like "Range Officer" and "Elite" or "Loaded".
