I cant seem to get Winchester primers localy but am able to get CCI # 500 primers. I had read somehwere (Speer Manual I think) that the CCI primers are slighty larger than other brands..I am going to reload 9mm in Winchester brass, will the CCI primers be an issue on my not yet delivered 550b or should I eat the Hazmat fee to order the Winchester primers online..?? Can a Winchester brass loader shed some light for me please..??

I have never had an issue with the size and I load on a Dillon 550 as well as a Dillon 650. In fact I was loading the other day using both Winchester and CCI primers for my 9mm loads without a hitch at all.

the hard answer

My experience has been that CCI 500 primers are a little harder than the Winchester but are no problem seating in Winchester 9x19 brass.

The only time this is a problem was when someone had a pistol that had a weak strike.

CCI's are a harder primer than most of the others. Lightened hammer springs may not have enough power to light them off. Size wise I've never noticed any difference between them and Winchester or Remington.

Federal primers are a tad bit larger in my experience and work well with brass that's been loaded many times and the primer pockets are a little too loose to use CCI, Winchester or Remingtons. Federal primers are also the softest primers being the one to use if you are shooting a target pistol with lightened hammer spring.
