In GA, you can own a pistol. You can take said pistol to the range by yourself. You just can't buy from an FFL. I think you should discuss it with your father. He may be able to help you out. Also, look into the local ads and classifides. There are ususally good deals to be had that you can buy yourself without hassle.

I just read it and here's what I'm getting: I can own a handgun, I just can't buy from an ffl. So does this mean I can buy from a private seller? How would this work? Would I have to fill out any paperwork? Or would I just give the seller the money, and they give me the gun and we split ways? And how would I transport it to the range without it being considered "concealed"? Put it in a case, and put the case in my trunk?
