Got a 3 point buck here that has about 30 black mole looking growths on him
like I have never seen before. None on his face or neck just on his legs, big ones
the size of silver dollars & protrude out about & inch, they are very-very black
& don't seem to attract flies any more than the rest of his body does so it must
not be like open type.
They resemble moles but not like any I have ever seen on deer around here. These
are so black they look artificial but definitely attached to the skin & not a hitch hiker
type burr. They don't seem to bother him cause he doesn't give them any attention.
Thing is, I keep up with the deer here & he has been in the back yard several times
& maybe I never noticed before but I honestly don't recall him like this before today.
He seems active & never stops eating clover so he is ok, my wife thinks he looks
freaky & is worried about anyone harvesting him & eating that [THING].
Any one seen deer like this or know what it is?
I can get a pic of him tomorrow or later today if I need to.
Just need him a bit closer to get a good one.

That is exactly what it is, the article you sent says they aren't permanent so whatever brought it on, virus or
insects, as it says, perhaps the herd will be ok.
None of the rest seem to have this but we will have to get the glass out to make sure it isn't a local insect
problem or such.
I have seen warts on deer here before but never BLACK & this many or this large.
We have several new fawns this year & about 6 new bucks due to a big clear cut this past year, right beside
us. Just about every time we look out there are deer in the fields or the back yard, lots to look over before
deer season.

Before dark I checked out 8 deer out back with glass & all were perfect, slick, & clean, eating Autumn Olive berries
like dope.
No sign of the bad looking deer.
