I fired 100 rounds today, damn that was fun!
I found an outstanding load with AA-2230......24 grains, Aguila case, CCI-400 primer, seated at 2.240". This printed a really nice cluster off-hand at 50 yards, recoil was "normal".
24.8 grains IMR-8208 with a 55 grain Nosler bullet, Rem case, CCI-400 primer, seated at 2.250"......printed a really nice cluster at 50 yards off-hand.
25 grains AA-2230 was a little warm and not as accurate. This is getting into the "5.56" data.
My standard small rifle primers looked fine with these loads, as long as I stay out of the 5.56 data range, I should be fine. Once I use these up, I'm going to magnums.
I tested some CBC 5.56 M-193, made in Brazil. This is good stuff! Its more accurate than the XM-193 from Federal, I think its more consistent. I found some of this stuff on-line for $17/50, so its pretty cheap too.
As soon as an 8lb keg of AA-2230 shows up again....I'm buying it!
