Theoretically, if there was a new "assault weapons ban", is it feasible that the guns and high capacity magazines we already owned be confiscated by authorities?

Nobody knows right now. I would have said" NO" a few years ago, but since legislation like the Patriot Act was passed, anything is possible.
You can't take property without compensation. I know just another constitutional barrier to overcome.
Just like "no ex-post-facto" laws, but that didn't stop the Lautenberg Amendment from having the full force of law.
