An email popped up in my inbox awhile back advertising a new gun - the Girsan Regard MC. Listed at $369 in FDE, it was hard to pass up (the colors look pretty sharp IMO). It's a Beretta 92 clone made in Turkey.

The gun has a few differences compared to a Beretta such as built-in finger grooves, 4 rails instead of 3 and an 18-round Mecgar magazine is included. Some sites are now listing 3 mags coming with the gun but I already have 5 mags that will work.

I just got the gun out to the range yesterday and put the usual random variety of ammo through it. It ran JHPs, RNFP and RN profiles without issue. Accuracy was more than acceptable. I intended to shoot the gun more but I only had limited time and had to move on to other guns.

Some very good firearms are coming out of Turkey. I bought a Sarsilmaz SAR9 on a lark due to the price and I fell in love with it (imagine a HK VP6 frame with a Glock 17 slide). I actually bought a second one.
My next Turkish pistol will likely be a Girsan GP-28 (https://www.cdnnsports.com/firearms/handguns/girsan-mc28sa-t-9mm-fde-reflex-sight.html#.XIxmGMJYZaQ for those interested) with reflex sight already installed for under $400.
I've never used anything other than iron sights on a handgun, so this would be my first foray into that combination.

I've also looked at the Regard. From what I've gathered, it's also a quality firearm. Yours certainly isn't hard on the eyes. It does make me crave a Reece's peanut butter cup though.

Snowdog

I also find myself strangely attracted to a FDE and blued color combination on several guns!

I saw the GP-28 and the price with optic is insane. If I didn't already have similar guns like it I would buy one.

A large part of the reason I bought the Regard was to have something to match my Beretta Cx4 (namely the magazines). I had been looking at used Berettas when the email for the Regard popped up. Timing is everything I guess.

I will try to dedicate more range time to the Regard soon. I did put in a 92D hammer spring (13lb) before the first trip and it made a huge difference in the DA pull.

From your comments am I correct it uses standard Beretta 92 magazines?

If so it looks like a interesting gun to add with my Beretta 92FS's. (I am mostly bummed out on all black guns anymore).

Yes! Everything about this gun is Beretta compatible. The mag release is in the standard 92FS (no heel release) location. The initial batch sold out in a matter of days, but I assume more have come in or are coming.

Saw an ad for a chrome 1911 for around 400 that looked nice too. Might give it a shot. Thanks for opinion on Girsan. Enjoy your new pistol.

A nickel-plated 1911A1 would go nicely with a pin stripe suit, a shoulder holster, a boater straw hat, and spats.
(and a big cheroot) :D
