Hello folks,
We were all saddened recently by the murders at Virginia Tech, and we have all been concerned about what this incident could mean for our rights as well. I am a longtime AR15.com forum member, and for those who haven't seen, one of our own was recently defamed by the media after the shooting.
Our member, Wayne Chiang, is a Virginia Tech student, he's Oriental, and he's a firearms enthusiast. Apparently that's a bad combination. The night after the shootings, Wayne's website was featured on Geraldo Rivera's Fox News show, and he was thrown out for the world to have their way with him. Now, Wayne is a good guy, and has no connections to the shooter, but thanks to Geraldo and Fox News, he has now been connected. Wayne has received numerous death threats, and been implicated in this horrible tragedy.
This could be any one of us here. You visit "gun" websites, you own guns, and you probably enjoy shooting those guns. It's no great leap to see that it would take very little to make any one of us guilty in the court of public opinion. This internet and TV crucifixion of a fellow gun owner cannot be allowed. We must stand on this and make our point, or it could be any one of us next.
Wayne's personal webpage can be found athttp://wanusmaximus.livejournal.com/
Part of Geraldo's comment can be seen there as well.
All I ask is that you take the time to send an email to Fox News and their sponsors and let them know that we will not support having an innocent, gun owning, genuine "good kid" thrown to the wolves, solely because he likes guns. Let's show these people that we are gun owners and will not allow them to throw us under the bus for ratings.
Here is Wayne on CNN, in an attempt to clear his name from this slanderous attack. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kqLcaoC2Qs
Here is a list of Fox sponsors that one of our member located on the net. http://www.debone.com/boycottFoxNewsSponsors.html
Like I said, all I ask is that you take a minute or two and let Fox and their sponsors know that gun owners can stand together, and will not be the social pariahs and scapegoats for the masses.
I'll post a form email in a little while, if you like, to make things quicker and easier for you guys. Thank you for your time and Jeff White, thank you for your effort.
