Well, it's been quite a while since I've purchased a firearm. A recent surge of computer building distracted me. Forgive me, DFW/THR's, I have returned.

Anyhow, today I find myself in one of my favorite retail establishments. I see, off in the corner, looking lonely, forlorn and unloved, a Beretta 92G Elite II, NIB. It's been there a while - it's cozied up to 2 ten round mags. But it's priced right and I start to weaken.

Then starts the phantom bluegrass banjo music, the smell of carbon fiber and the image of a skunk, albeit stuffed, being held by a lovely Korean police woman. I shake my head, the vision clears and I leave with said 92G.

The question: the 10 rounders packed with this thing look, well, quaint. And not in a good way. Can I buy 15 rounders marked for the 92FS?

If'n so, can I buy generic (whatever CDNN sells) 15 rounders or is this thing fussy and will only feed from genuine Italian 15 rounders?

What's up with that bumpus thing on the bottom of the 10 round mags? I don't want that on the 15's do I? Probably can't get it anyway.

Oh yeah, and I've already discovered I can't see the sights against a Texas blue silhouette - there was an old Skunk thread about a white dot front only - where do I get this item without mailing the whole thing to Ernie Langdon?

So far I'm pleasantly surprised. I'm rather of a 1911 kinda guy, and the trigger on this thing doesn't totally suck out loud out of the box.

TIA

Hey Hawk........missed ya. Don't I owe you some money?

Anyway, congrats on your purchase...you shoud now get another one so you can do that really cool John Woo stuff with two hands like on all the crappy movies he makes.

I think I saw one for sell around here somewhere.

You may want to try the Mecgar mags for that 92 as I had trouble with the Asian military mags on my 92FS from CDNN. I think CDNN carries the Mecgars for it to. They are the 17 round thingies.

If your question is will regular 92FS magazines fit the Elite? The answer is yes. I owned a Elite I I think and I know what you mean about the tumor on the bottom of the mags. Makes the gun seem too big. I ran old military 15 rounds in mine.

Thanks, just what I needed.

The 15 round military type mags will svelte this guy right up. It might be a personal thing - I gravitate towards flush fit Metalforms in my 1911's as well.

I would point out that most of the problems tha M-9 platform has suffered has been related to aftermarket mags.

I think as long as you're using factory mags it should be fine. The rubber basepads are great. I love them, they seem to make seating the magazine and reloads to feel more positive, but then my first Beretta was an Elite II and I was too used to them to like the plastic or metal ones. Besides, the Elite II just doesn't look right with the regular basepads.

You can get sights from Heinie, Novak, etc. I hear the Beretta sights are a pain to work with but never done so myself.

Besides...you know you want that Ernest Langdon trigger job.

And the carbon fiber grips.

Caught a 15-rounder at the range today for 25.00. Stamped "Made in USA ACKK MD". That's gotta be the gen-U-wine article. I'll have to find more - the 10 rounders are a major pain: reminds me of my Glock 21 10-rounders: they were so worried about agent Shmuckatelli jamming in 11 rounds, they rigged it so it would take a grip that would shatter a coconut to get number 10 in there.

The 92G 10 rounders hit that point at around 8 rounds. Maybe I'll stuff 'em full and let 'em sit in a drawer for 6 months - like we used to do with baseball mitts when we were kids.

Besides...you know you want that Ernest Langdon trigger job. And the carbon fiber grips.

hmmph. Perhaps so. Later. I can resist anything but temptation.
