when shooting BP cap&ball to have spare parts.

Let me tell you he wasn't lying! :D

Took the Uberti Walker out to the range today.
Managed to get off about 8-9 shots and the hand spring broke! ARRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!! :cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss:
Shooting session over. :(

Back to house and digging in the parts stash and lo and behold a spare!
5 minutes of filing and fitting and the Walker is good to go.

There is a special place in heaven for whoever owns VTI Gun Parts.:D
This makes the third time in one year of ownership that a spring has broken.
Mainpsring once and handspring twice.
Oh well. Not a biggie. VTI gets another parts order tomorrow.
Probably put 1400 rounds thu of this gun so far.

Moral of the story: SPARE PARTS are wonderful.

Yeah... I had a hand spring break on a Pietta 1851 Confederate Navy right after I bought it.

I remember someone advising me to buy a complete set of internal parts for the pistol, and fitting each one of them individually to the pistol while it was still new, so that replacing each worn part if/when it needed it would be easier.

I still have not done that, so I guess I will have to do things the hard way next time one of my pistols needs repair...

Yikes...two handsprings in a year! You might want to consider looking into the Larsen E. Pettifogger upgrade that uses a Ruger plunger/spring to replace the handspring. I also bought a spare handspring for my Walker from VTI. I told myself if I break the original and the yet unused spare I'd upgrade to the Ruger plunger/spring system.

Tuning the Uberti Open Top BP Revolvers

I had the hand spring break on a brand new Uberti 1851, it is crimped on and they over-crimped it at the factory weakening it. I had a spare made for a .44 Pietta which fit better than the original. In the old days it was a common problem and indexing the cylinder by hand was not unheard of.
