Assemblyman Steve Katz presented A5955 to repeal the unSAFE Act.
BILL NUMBER: A5955
SPONSOR: Katz
TITLE OF BILL: An act to repeal chapter 1 of the lawss of 2013, anending the criminal procedure law and other lwas relating to suspension and revocation of firearms licenses.
PURPOSE OF THE BILL: This legislation would repeal the NYS SAFE Act.
JUSTIFICATION:
The S.A.f.e. Act is not the answer to the problems we have with firearms in society because it fails to address any of the underlying issues.

The right to bear arms is guaranteed by the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, as well as the Civil Rights Law of the State of New York, and the New York State Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act of 2013 which was rushed to passage by the New York Senate,Assembly and Governor ,will have a detrimental effect on hunters, sportsmen and legal gun
owners, while failing to adequately address illegal guns and mental illness. This
legislation creates an environment in the state which is hostile to gun manufacture and ownership.
Repealing this act will grant New york State the time to target the real issues at hand and promise a safer and peaceful environment for all residents, without infringing on Constitutional rights.
PRIOR LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: New Bill
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS: None
EFFECTIVE DATE:This Act shall take effect immediately.

It is self evident the SAFE Act is unconstitutional. It is proven fact the SAFE Act was enacted through illegal procedures. It goes without cvquestion that the citizens demand elected officials obey the law.
It is a fact that a vote to retain the SAFE Act is an act of sedition.Any e4loected person voting to retain the SAFE Act is not fit to hold office.
I DEMAND A VOTE ON BILL #5955 REPEAL THE SAFE ACT BEFORE MAY 21, 2013.

Is there some reason to limit this to NY residents? Non-residents "just passing thru" are impacted as well. I pass thru NY at least monthly, and stand to be harmed by this as well. Aren't we all able to make a complaint to a representative voting on an issue that impacts us, even though we are not directly represented by him ourselves?

Request your Senator support and co-sponsor the Senate version to repeal the SAFE act as well. Join with Sen. Gallivan and Marchionne to co-sponsor this bill as well. It may have a better chance in the Senate than Assembly.

too badit doesn't demand cuomo's impeachment.

or is that going to be another bill? :)

Now is the time, get THEM on their heels. Talk to people/put up flyers at your local gun shops, Cabella's, trading posts, etc. Maybe put a local ad on Craigslist and similar sites.
Good luck guys. Keep up the good fight.

Sent an Email to C. Crouch, who surprisingly is a HUGE 2A supporter.

We have a second home in NY where I used to shoot my neutered AR. Now I can't but this guy seems pretty cool.

I am too!!!

Dear Tyler:

I appreciate you contacting me regarding your support for A.5995 (Katz) that
would repeal the NYS SAFE ACT. Rest assured that I fully agree with you and
your comments as I am a co-sponsor of this legislation. The bill is
currently in the assembly codes committee. As a sponsor of this legislation
I will do whatever I can to help get it passed.

Thank you for writing.

Sincerely,
Cliff

I signed one of those cards while at the 2nd Amendment Rally held last weekend in Chemung County. I was really disappointed at the turnout (~400 people). Complacency and apathy will be the death of this great nation.

Crouch has always struck me as a decent, down to earth guy. He's the only politician I have ever spoken to that didn't make my skin crawl just to be around. The way Libous does. There is just something about that guy that puts to mind a chubby ferret. I know he voted against NY SAFE, and if he continues to support the right stuff, he'll keep my vote, but still. There is something off about him.

That will last until Bloomberg and Cuomo find out about it, then the bill will be withdrawn, or else!

Jim

I'm all about strong wording, and God bless all the NY people who are fighting this...

But I have one question concerning the wording of these cards, specifically with respect to "It is a fact that a vote to retain the SAFE Act is an act of sedition."

Sedition is conduct or language which incites an insurrection or rebellion against the state or lawful authority.

How is the "state", or "lawful authority", committing sedition against itself when those in power vote for the SAFE Act?

As I said, I'm all about strong wording...however, the correct wording is important, too. Incorrect wording tends to make people more dismissive of the opinions/beliefs of those expressing them. How many times have we, here on this site, rolled our eyes or derisively commented on gun-control figureheads who don't know the difference between a clip and a magazine, or (in one extremely funny instance) the difference between a magazine and the bullets inside the magazine?

Just wondering. Perhaps I simply need enlightenment on this particular use of "sedition".

:)

It is willfully passing a law that intentionally infringes upon the right to bear arms. I see that as an intentional and unlawful violation of the constitutional right to bear arms and form militias.

How is a militia intended to stand against a standing army without access to effective infantry rifles?

If you don't think that the second amendment was written at least in part to protect us from our own government, look a little deeper.

kiln the 2nd amendment was written only to keep the govt in line. only suicidal gun owners like to think it is about hunting when there were no stores in that time you had to hunt or die

I grant you this...and I'd considered it when thinking about what the intent of the message was.

But sedition is something the citizens (or subjects) do.

Just sayin'.

:)

(And yes...I'm well aware of what the various amendments are there to protect us from.)

A waste of time. The only hope there is for NY is the SCOTUS. Your lunatic Governor would never sign that piece of legislation even if it were to accidentally pass through your legislature.
Run him out of Albany on a rail.

my lunatic governor

Well, I`d like to treat Cuomo the way Vlad Dracula used to do to his enemies - impale him on a stake, but neither that nor tarring and feathering him before running him out of town seem like workable options.
Job 1 is defeating the (un)SAFE Act, job 2 is mount a recall drive to get Cuomo out of office.
That turkey needs to be be taught a lesson: Being elected governor of the Empire State (New York) does not make him the Emperor of New York !:cuss:

Unfortunately, ThorinNNY, NY has no recall. He could be impeached, IIRC, but as we saw with the passage of NYSAFE, he has enough people in his pocket to shoot that down. And unfortunately, as I just explained to a friend of mine, killing the rat would make things worse. What someone needs to do is "Spitzer" him. Destroy his reputation, and do it in as public a manner as possible. I would guarantee the guy has enough "dirty laundry" to do it, and is probably connected to enough crap that would be big enough to stain him too, the problem is, he has enough people too scared of either himself, or his connections, to act.

May 21

Well, next Tuesday ,May 21, we`re holding a Repeal the SAFE Act rally in Albany. So far my local legiscritter`s responses to our requests that they sponsor A5955 were noncommittal. Only Assemblyman Mark Butler sided with us. Although Sens. Ritchie, Griffo and Little voted against the SAFE Act, they voted for the budget which allowed our would be Emperor Andrew the Atrocious to pay for implementing the SAFE Act.
But the aforementioned Senators have shown an apalling lack of enthusiasm for repealing the SAFE Act. I got to speak to one over the phone and to the other 2 senators` staff. I asked direct questions in plain English! One prtended to be clueless and the other two gave such evasive responses I was left with the distinct impression- that they just don`t give a damn for us! Either Cuomo threatened them or offered pork in exchange for selling us out or most likely both!
When narco-trafficantes( drug dealers) offer officials in South -America " plato o plomo" -silver or lead- ie " cooperate with us and become rich or oppose us and die! "that`s terrible and condemned by the US government.
When similar corruption takes root in Albany, NY, USA - it`s nothing to be concerned about!
Apparently I`m not alone in coming to that conclusion and some of us are planning to flood their offices with PINK SLIPS- you know, Notices of Termination for non performance of their duties.
We`ve set up a bus- a coach- leaving from St.Lawrence County and picking up passengers in several locations along the route south to Albany.
Well, since we cannot recall Cuomo we need to impeach the tyrant. And get rid of all the cowardly sell out legis -rascals!
Hope you`ll make the rally in Albany on the 21st!

You can flood their offices all you want and they will simply ignore you. Get working against them.

Get their voting records and use it against them.
Gather like minded friends and neighbors, protest them in public places to let the community know, esp. let you neighbors know that they are making your community unsafe.
Show up where they have speaking engagements and protest, continue to ask them embarassing questions about the NY SAFE Act and other legislative blunders (they all have them). Make it emotional and make it personal.
Primary them in 2014, and work for their opponents if you lose the primary. Show up at their homes early in the morning....they are back home on Thursdays, and let them know how you feel... Take it to them individually and often, be persistent and be civil.

You will get them to take action just to prevent the loss of their own job due to the continued bad publicity and the annoyance you are causing them and their families.

Believe me, these are the only things they care about. These people are the worst lowlife pukes there are.

If you won't do this, then you are the problem and you deserve what you get.
