I picked up the Sig P220 Carry Elite the other day and really liked the way it looked and felt. I've never had a Sig but shot one at the range and was impressed. Does anybody have any opinions or feedback on the P220 Carry Elite SAO .45? Thanks

Joe

The quintessential SIG has double-strike capability and no manual safety to worry with. If you're going to give up the double-strike capability and add a safety, what does the SAO offer that the 1911 doesn't?

This is a sincere question. I'm not looking to start a flame-throwing contest. I've wondered this since first hearing about the P220 SAO.

45 Nut - I agree with you after going to look yesterday. Might as well go 1911 like you said. I skipped it and will look at some others to add to the collection. Thanks

The advantage is the Sig out of box reliability. 1911s are nice but some are more finicky than others. My P220 SAO had no break in problems at all.

Just with the 220 Carry SAO. I usually carry 1911s but wanted one in the subfour range. Well, I've heard many times that any 1911 under 4" needed more TLC than usual. So, I decided against the Colt Delta and bought the Carry SAO and haven't have any problems with it. Of course, I already had a 220 DA, so the choice wasn't too hard to make.
