Accu Tek AT-380 Opinions, Experience?

Just got one at an Auction. Wanted to know if anybody had any experience with these they wanted to share. Apparently, there is a second generation version currently? made. There's a picture of the new version below, I've got the older version.

Hmmm....the new version still looks like a pot metal gun. Has nicer contours though.

Well, it's not pot metal, that's for sure. Metal looks like investment cast Stainless throughout. Styling is a bit better on the grips of the new gun and the beavertail is also more functional.

Well good and bad. A couple of LEO's I know carry the AT 380s as BUG's. That says alot IMO...but The one I shot was a total LEMON......I thought Id give them a 2nd chance and got a BL9...black pocket 9mm. Went back to the factory 2 times and they finally bought it back from me. Pretty scarey considering they are made as a belly gun.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I came across this one while doing research on my own AT-380. I didn't pay for mine. Somebody gave it to me when I helped him clean up and refinish and old rifle. Despite the favorable reviews that I have seen on the AT-380 and the fact that some LEOs apparently trust it as a backup gun, my particular AT-380 has a couple of annoying problems. First, the previous owner reports that he had to hold the magazine up tight in the magazine well in order to prevent misfeeds. Second, the safety lever broke off in the "fire" position. I can't engage the safety now. I haven't tried firing it, and I probably won't fire it unless I can find cheap replacement parts to do a thorough repair first.

EDIT: Oh, and one more thing. I don't know how much people are paying for AT-380 pistols these days, but if the MSRP on Accu-Tek's website is any indication of the going price on these pistols, I would advise anybody in the market for a .380ACP firearm to look at the Bersa/Firestorm Thunder 380 instead. For a very similar price, you'd be getting a much much better weapon. My girlfriend and I now own three Bersas (two in .380 and one in 9mm).

Try opening the feed lips on the mag up a bit so as the round will ride higher in the magazine. Might make it feed.

I've read negatives on this gun in zines like Gun Tests, just really never wanted one. Seems a little iffy.

I have only dealt with two of them and neither could be made to work. After several attempts by competant gunsmiths I traded them both off and picked up some other 380's. I doubt I will ever go back to an Accu-tek product again.
