Accused cop killer boasted of weapon

Arrogant accused cop killer Steven Armento brazenly mocked the gun of the officer he fatally shot during a botched Bronx burglary last month, according to documents filed in court yesterday.

A smug Armento was interviewed by police two days after the Dec. 10 murder of Officer Daniel Enchautegui, and the small-time crook boasted of everything from the power of his own .357 magnum revolver to his ability to drink a quart of Scotch and still be able to drive.

"I know I hit him once, he flew about 10 feet," Armento said in a statement to detectives from the intensive care unit at Jacobi Medical Center. He went on to boast of the power of his .357 magnum.

"Not like those 9-mm.," added Armento, 48, belittling the gun Enchautegui used to shoot him six times and former "Sopranos" actor Lillo Brancato Jr. twice.

"They don't do nothing, look what they do," said the flippant, drug-abusing ex-con as he pointed at the wounds on his own legs.

Armento and Brancato, 29, who were arraigned Monday, were looking for drugs in a vacant Bronx apartment when they were confronted by the off-duty Enchautegui.

Contradicting his earlier statements, Armento admitted he shot first after Enchautegui, 28, displayed his own gun.

"The cop fell back when I shot him and went into a military stance," Armento dictated to a detective in a statement that was presented in Bronx Supreme Court by the borough district attorney yesterday.

Meanwhile, Armento's attorney denounced the validity of the interview yesterday and questioned why it was not videotaped by the NYPD.

Flew about ten feet the man says. Guess I'd better get me one of those .357s.

I'd offer to chip in a buck to the rope fund, but all that happened in New York. New Yorkers are going to get to pay for his room and board and medical care and legal bills for decades to come.

NY does NOT have the death penalty. Last year the NY Supreme Court overturned the statute and ruled it unconstitutional.

I would just LOVE to see the look on his face if he had one of those "POS" 9mm pointed between his eyes, himself unable to move his head. Hey, he said they wouldn't do more than scratch him right?
