but Ed Abbey detested socialists
He was more of an 'enlightened anarchist'; give him enough wilderness to roam (in his beat up old pickup/SUV) and he'd be happy enough to see the human race incinerate itself, drink itself to death, fornicate itself into extinction, etc. The man had the courage to admit that the "enviro-movement" belonged to folks who were just as guilty as the rest of society.
